Answer #1

In total WBC, neutrophil occupies around 50% to 60%. In the slide, An immature neutrophil cell is called a band. Bands are formed due to increased bacterial cell infection called left shift.

RBC Morphology:

  • Change in shape as acanthocytes, echinocytes, keratocytes, stomatocytes.
  • Change in color leads to hypochromasia, polychromasia,
  • Agglutination associated with anemia.

WBC Morphology:

  • Coarse granules are seen in a neutrophil band.
  • Vacuoles indicate phagocytosis.
  • Premature leukocytes present in leukemia.

Thus the abnormality in the cells helps to identify the disease. Left shift denotes immature cells, hyperpigmentation indicates megaloblastic anemia, smudge cell associated with fragile lymphocytes, and rare disorder shows large neutrophilic granules.
