Quantitative research is the method of explaining the concept by collecting numerical data that can be analysed using mathematical methods. The data collected are always numerical and further calculations on the data are carried out with the help of mathematical and statistical methods. The common methods of collecting quantitative data are from surveys and observations.
On the other hand, Qualitative research engages the collection of data using pictures, illustrations, photographs and observations. It deals with the human behavior such that the data involves to answer questions about how people respond to a particular subject or situation. This type of research is not dealing with numbers. The common methods of collecting qualitative data are from interviews, focus groups, observations and so on.
The two methods provides different kind of information and different outputs, but it can be combined to increase the accuracy of the outcome.The outcome from one method can be more justified or extrapolated using the second method.  
Conducting qualitative and quantitative research at the same time enables the researchers to collect as many findings as possible while saving a lot of time and money.
The parallel way of excecution helps to gather information for testing the performance of the concept numerically using statistical analysis, on the same time, the qualitative research collects data about how the consumers evaluate it on a detailed manner.
