Considering only truth-functional claims, what are the four connectors? Describe what needs to happen in a truth table to demonstrate an argument is valid.

Truth functional claims are the true value of a sentence. Truth value may be true at one time and may be false at another time. The four connectors are the connection of any statement that forms a compound sentence. The four connectors are conjunction, disjunction, negation and conditional.

  • Conjunction connects two statements with the use of 'and'. e.g It is raining and it is sleeting.
  • Disjunction displaces the two sentences and forms a compound. e.g you can bring a shirt or bring a book.
  • Negation is a denying of the sentence with one place connective. e.g It is not harming.
  • Conditional is the merging of two sentences under a condition. e.g if I have money, then I brought a dress.

If the argument to be valid, then the conclusion of the statement to be true. Even if a single conclusion is false, then the whole premises would be negative. The argument is valid only if all the conclusion of the statement is true.
