3. Explain the signs/symptoms of hypovolemic shock that may occur after a sizeable blood loss from delivery of a preeclamptic patient. What medication being administered could have put the patient at risk for a higher blood loss and why?

4. What nursing assessment findings could the nurse observe while caring for a patient (maternal and fetal) with a diagnosis of pre-eclampsia with HELLP syndrome? What would be the signs and symptoms of labor with this patient (maternal and fetal)?

Ans 3. The signs and aymptoms of hypovolemic shock that may occur after a sizeable blood loss from delivery of a preeclamtic patient are:

a.Rapid heart beat

b.Shallow breathing

c.Confusion

d.Low blood pressure

e.clammy skin

f.Anuria

g.weakness

patients with preeclampsia should not be administered ACE(angiotensin converting enzymes) inhibotors as it increases the risk of boood loss, heart attack etc.

Ans 4. HEELP( hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, low platelet count)syndrome usually develops before 37th week of pregnancy but can occur shortly delivery.

symptoms(maternal)are: nausea, headache, pain in upper abdomen,swelling in extremeties etc.

symptoms(fetal) are: abruption of placenta, intrauterine asphyxia, extreme prematurity, lung and liver disorders etc
