Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) includes:

1) Patient centered care: The care offered by nurse should be helpful to the client by meeting his needs like physical, biological like medications, hygiene, diet and regain of optimal health, social, spiritual and other psychological needs etc, are to be met.

2) Evidence - based practice: The nurses should practice the interventions which are based on evidences i.e theories and laws. Every nurse should be updated with new changes in medical era and improve knowledge in adapting and practicing new interventions.

3) Quality patient care or Quality improvement: The care given to the client should be based on patients needs there by decreasing the disease condition and rehabilitating the client to optimal health.

4) Safety: The client safety and confidentiality are given priority during care of a client by nurse.

5) Team work and Collaboration: All the interprofessional team work together helps the client to reach optimal health very fastly.

6) Informatics: The analysis of the client care, ratios of mortality and morbidity helps to improve in scientific and research development.

National Patient Safety goals as they relate to infection:

Infection control protocol:

Reducing the risk of Healthcare Associated Infections is the National Patient Safety goal related to infection.

It can be possible by following hand hygiene guidelines ( WHO 2009) medical hand wash by following six steps i.e, rubbing palm to palm, right palm over left dorsam and left over right dorsam, interlocking of fingers, interlacing of fingers, thumb rotation, clenching of fingers etc.

Following hand hygiene moments:

- Before touching the patient

- After touching the patient

- Before performing aseptic techniques

- Before coming in contact with body fluids.

- After touching the patients equipment and surroundings.

Use of personnel protective equipment like Gowns, gloves, masks, spectacles, boots / shoes, caps etc.

By employing aseptic techniques in performing procedures, use of disinfectants in cleaning the equipment based on protocols.

Use of sterile techniques like fumigation, autoclaving, sterilization etc.
