You have a 12 month old coming in for immunizations. What does the CDC recommend for 12 month old immunizations? Explain what each immunization is for and how it is given, for example IM, by mouth, etc? What are some side effects that a medical assistant should mention to the parents?

ANS) The 12 month old immunization should be received because these vaccines will protect the child from many dangerous diseases.

The Varicella vaccine is an important vaccine to avoid the chicken pox.The first dose of the Vaccine should be given in the 12th month.The chicken pox is a deadly illness.The side effects from this vaccine is very slight,and that side effects may be small rash,fever,swelling and pain for a short period of time.

The D TaP vaccine save small child from diphtheria,tetanus and also from whooping cough.Total of 5 doses are recommended by the doctors for the children's in the age of 12 months or below 12 months.Some of the common side effects are Nausea,joint pain,muscle pain and tiredness.

The Hib ( Haemophilus influenza type b) vaccine save the child from the Hib disease which can leads to long-lasting disorders.3 or 4 doses of Hib vaccine is recommended by doctors.Most children's are not having any kind of side effects,but in others the side effects are fever,warmth,Redness etc..

The MMR Vaccine is very important for avoiding the Measles disease.2 or 3 doses of MMR vaccine is suggested by the physicians and other than from the measles the MMR vaccine also give protection from the diseases like mumps and rubella.And some of the important side effects are soreness,rashes,fever etc...

The polio vaccine is one of the another important vaccine that every child should take,because it will protect the child from growing long-lasting paralysis from the polio.4 dose of polio vaccine is suggested by the physician.Some of the side effects are swelling and pain etc...

Pneumococcal vaccine will save the child from the infections generated by the pneumococcal disorders such as the pneumococcal meningitis.Around 4 doses of this vaccine is suggested by the physician.Some of the common side effects are fussiness,fever and loss of appetite etc...

So above are the important immunizations that should be provided for a child at 12 months.
