8. If body does not have enough carbohydrates or fat as energy source, our body will start using proteins from food that we eat and proteins that stored in our body as source of energy. Around half of the protein are stored in the skeletal muscles.Thus once the protein start break down and converted to energy, the muscle mass will be decreased, which leads to total body weight loss and weakness

9.Two conditions associated with protein deficiencies are

1. Kwashiorkor :It is also known as edematous malnutrition which is caused by protein deficiency in diet. It is commonly seen in young children with symptoms like large pot like belly, generalized edema and loss of muscle mass.

2. Marasmus :It is caused by severe deficiency of calories in the diet which leads to protein breakdown in the body. finally the body runs out of protein to produce energy and cause protein deficiency
