Answer #1

Answer 1: Here, it is given as Lidocaine 2%. We all know, percentage is measured in grams per 100 mL.

Hence 2% is 2grams in 100 mL which equals to 2000 mg= 100 mL ---> 20 mg = 1 mL

Therefore, we have 1 milliliter contains 20 milligrams of Lidocaine. The Anesthesiologist administered 10 mL of the injection, hence 20 X 10 = 200.

Answer is 200 milligrams of Lidocaine was administered.

ANSWER 2: The bottle contains Epinephrine in the concentration of 1:200,000 which means 1g : 200,000 ml which is the same as 1000 mg: 200,000 mL. This is the same as 1mg: 200 mL OR 1 mL = 0.05mg

The Anesthesiologist administered 10 mL of the injection, hence 10 X 0.05 = 0.5 mg.

Answer is 0.5 milligrams of epinephrine was administered.

ANSWER 3: Product A contains higher concentration of epinephrine as explained by the following calculations:

In product B, Epinephrine is in the concentration of 1:100,000. This is same as 1 gram:100,000 milliliters which is the same as 1000 milligram: 100,000 mL. This is the same as 1 milligram: 100 mL OR 1 milliliter = 0.01 milligram

Whereas Product A had 0.05 mg of epinephrine which is more than Product B. Hence, Product A contains higher concentration of epinephrine.
