Naprosyn is a non steroidal anti inflammatory drug used to treat pain. Some of the risk factors which can be identified in a male aged 75 years old are

  • Risk for ulcers in stomach
  • Very high risk for bleeding from gastrointestinal tract without any major signs and symptoms
  • Risk for getting myocardial infarction ,hypertension can occur
  • The chance of stroke is nearly 50% greater than other painkillers
  • Increased risk of bleeding if used along with anticoagulant

Some of the nursing consideration which can be used to decrease the risk factors are

  • Assessing the patients medication regimen to know any drug- drug interactions and prevent it by informing the provider and making necessary changes
  • Encourage the patient to take medication only as prescribed not to overdose
  • Inform patient to report any adverse events immediately for getting medical help
  • Provide a fibre rich diet to prevent constipation
  • Monitor vital signs especially blood pressure
  • The patient can be administered this drug with milk
