●Investigations

  • Fecal occult test can rule out the presence of any blood in the stool
  • Complete blood count to rule out infection
  • Colonoscopy can be done to assess the problems in the colon
  • The stool pH can be tested .A low level is noted in vital infection
  • Stool culture to rule out any bacterial infection
  • Stool anonon gap to rule out osmolar diarrhea

●A patient passing stool with blood refers to dysentery.This status can be diagnosed As acute severe diarrhea

●Causes

  • Bacterial infection

●Treatment

  • Administration of intravenous fluid to replace lost fluid
  • Administer antimicrobial, antibiotics to prevent infection
  • maintain blood pressure
  • Antacids to reduce gastric section
  • Provide liquid diet

●Prevention

  • Meticulous hand washing to prevent cross contamination and transmission of microorganisms causing diarrhea
  • Avoiding unhygienic foods from open place
  • Avoid sprouts ,raw vegetables, fruits without proper cleansing
  • A stool of more than two movements per day should be immediately substituted with oral rehydration therapy and I'd more in number medical help to be seeked.
