Rudolf Dreikurs theory "THE SOCIAL DISCIPLINE MODEL"
1. How this theory applies to our daily nursing practice? minimum 100
Dreikurs believed all behavior is :
Orderly
Purposeful
Directed toward achieving social approval
Dreikurs’ Social Discipline model uses the four basic premises of Adler’s theories, concluding:
human are social beings and belonging is the most basic motivator
all behaviors have a purpose
human beings are decision-makers
we only perceive reality and our perception may be either mistaken or biased.
Dreykuls famously insisted that child misconduct has a specific purpose and promotes logical consequences in reward or punishment. Dreykuls believes that children are seeking their place in the group, and some children have concluded that the only way to play a role in the group is to misbehave in order to maintain their position. Then, Dreikurs developed some techniques to redirect and resolve inappropriate behavior.
*He suggests that :
Requires a dedicated democratic teaching and classroom style
May be difficult to implement with students who display the most difficult behavioral tendencies
*Four main causes of misbehavior were identified by Dreikurs
Attention-seeking
Student wants to be noticed
Power-seeking
Student wants to impose their will
Revenge-seeking
The student is looking for retribution
Failure-avoidance
The student will feel inadequate
The theory states that all actions of the child are linked to the need for belonging to the group
*Dreikurs identified two types of consequences
Logical: Typically require students to make right what they have done wrong
Natural: Results that naturally follow the behavior
Causes of Misbehavior
Avoid power struggles with students
Allow the student to participate in making decisions
Take positive steps to prevent undesired behavior
Setup instances in the class where students can display their talents and strengths
This will aid in helping students experience acceptance
The ideas presented in the book were based upon the work of Dreikurs' mentor, Alfred Adler
Dreikurs did not believe it to be an effective method of discipline
Viewed it as an act of revenge taken by the teacher
Believed it was humiliating to students
As a nurse, we must understand the child’s misbehavior at an early stage, and plan to achieve the wrong goal or understand the wrong goal as a useful goal.
Through the application of this model, we can understand children’s motives and help them understand their own motives and help them understand the consequences of each action
We can apply this theory to nursing to form good behavioral habits for children, and prevent misbehavior and discipline problems by using effective and good communication methods, thereby promoting good discipline and prevention in future life Observe discipline and avoid children's revenge.
This way we can establish and promote good behaviors among children and prevent misbehaviour

For my nursing theory MSN 600 course our instructor has asked us a series of questions, one of which is below. We are to use Ch. 4, 5, 19, 20, 21, 22, and 24 for this DB. This is question one of three. Thank you 1. Identify how the development of nursing diagnosis and nursing therapeutic taxonomies contribute to advancing nursing knowledge. Identify how the support for evidence-based practice is an indication of progress in the nursing discipline.
Describe one ethical theory or approach and illustrate how the approach is applied in daily nursing practice.
