Two identical twins can only be distinguished by the characteristic that one always tells the truth and the other always lies. One twin tells you of a lucky number pair: "When I multiply my first lucky number by 3 and my second lucky number by 6, the addition of the resulting numbers produce a sum of 12. When I add my first lucky number and twice my second lucky number, the sum is 5." Which twin is talking? How do you know?

The first has a characteristic length Lc = (Volume/Area) of 0.1 m, and the second has a characteristic length of 0.280594 m. The average Nusselt number for the shape is given by the following correlation (where Re is calculated using characteristic length, Re=Rel.) Nu = 0.9 Re0.43 Both objects...

2 examples please Some word problems in this chapter involve one "easy equation", usually found by translating a simple relationship between x and y (like one is twice the other or that they add to a given number). The second linear equation often uses a "rate times quantity formula. This is true for • distance problems (rate.time = distance) • mixture problems (percent concentration amount of solution - amount of concentrate) money problems (value of one item. how many items...
