Answer #1

Group health insurance policies are taken for the benefit of a group of people working under a common management. This insurance is mandatory for the organizations and the policy holders can avail the benefits of the insurance at a lower premium than the individual health insurance.

Group health insurance policies would be self funded and the employer provides the policy at a lower cost to the employees with out compromising on the benefits of the policy. They are regulated by the department of labor which functions under the employee retirement income security act and the federal laws of the country. The plans are also referred to as ERISA plans.

Unlike the initial group health insurance plans the benefits to the policy holders are revised and extended. Working women are given coverage for the expenses during pregnancy, the policy holders can include their family members also in the policy by paying the premium. Accidental coverage and free medical check ups can be availed through this. Occupational disorders like stress, BP and emotional stress are covered under the group health insurance programs. In order to create awareness about the grave diseases, the insurance companies promote health check up with in the campus for free.
