Force = (mass)(acceleration)
a = F/m
a = 20 N /5.0 kg
a = 4.0 m/s2

if you draw a free body diagram, the only horizontal force acting on the block is F = 20N. You know that F = ma. plugging in -- as the other guy whoanswered did -- you get 20 = 5*a
a = 4m/s^2

if your professor says the answer is 7.5 m/s^2 either he is wrong or you are forgetting a piece of information.
