There are many great management and leadership styles available. Two of the overall approaches include participative (Similar to Theories Y and Z) and autocratic management (Similar to Theory X) styles. This DB will have you understand, explain, and elaborate on those (especially participative).


1.Research and explain what participative management is about, (including pros and cons). Perhaps include what makes up this style regarding how managers implement this style.


2.How do things like empowerment and delegation serve not only to support a participative management style, but contribute to overall organizational performance.

1- Participative management style is the style of manager in a company where manager takes the decisions by considering the opinions of employees in the company. It is the approach where employees are valued and provide priority by manager that they should be part of organizational decision making process. the degree of participation could range from zero to 100% in different participative management (PM) stages (Cotton et al. 1988; Black & Gregersen 1997; Brenda, 2001).

the pros of this style is that manager is able to make good relationship with employees. this style helps to motivate and encourage creativity and critical thinking of employees. this style also increase loyalty of employees in the management.

the cons of this style i would say that sometimes decisions can be delayed because too much views and opinions can make the process long and time consuming. another con is in this conflicts among employees can generate because of view differences.

Participatory management is the practice of empowering members of a group, such as employees of a company or citizens of a community, to participate in organizational decision making. ( Guyot, Sylvain,2011). the things like empowerment and delegation serve not only to support a participative management style, but contribute to overall organizational performance because it helps the employees to have autonomy and freedom which motivate employees to perform at their best and put their efforts to achieve organizational objectives which helps the manager to improve overall organizational performance. as we all know that when employees are empowered and delegated the tasks according to their interest and strength then their performance goes higher.

Yes, i definetly like Participative management because it helps me to be a part of something big. it feels like me and my decisions matters in the organization. yes, we can be part of this as employee where we can help in policy making, making business decision like purchasing of new technology at office or purchasing new business etc.
