1. Ear is responsible for hearing and balance. It consists of three parts outer ear , middle ear, and inner ear.

Outer ear consists of pinna and external auditory canal. Tympanic membrane (eardrum) separates the outer ear from the middle ear. middle ear consists of auditory ossicles and eustachian tube. Ossicle amplify the sound.. The inner ear consists of cochlea, vestibule and semicircular canals.

1. Structure that separates the outer from middle ear is known as tymapanic membrane or ear drum.

Structure that separates the middle ear from inner ear is known as oval window or fenestra vestibuli.

2. Structures in the middle ear that reduce the ears sensitivity to sound are known as auditory ossicles.
