Answer #1

1. Herpes virus does not survive for long out side the host. That is why it is not transmitted by toilet seats or fomites.

2. Herpes virus does not cause symptoms all the time. It is mostly quiet in the body. It hides in the root ganglion system (neurons) which is not reachable by any drug for treatment. So it is very difficult to eliminate.

3. Herpes spreads through other means also not just by vaginal sex. It can spread through skin if your partner has oral herpes or genital herpes. Through sores on the body also they can spread. That is why condom usage has only 50% reduction in the spread of the disease.
