What is percent identity and percent similarity
Percent Identity in a sequence is the percentage of aminoacids that are identical in 2 sequences.
Percentage similarity on the other hand considers the percentage of similar aminoacids at each location. Ex there can be more than one acidic aminoacids at the location both of which can perform their function in a protein, They are considered in a percentage similarity even though they are not the same. This is not seen in percentage identity.
