You want to compare two manufacturing processes. From a previous student, we believe the defective proportion in the first process to be somewhere round 0.1 and the defective proportion in the second process is around 0.15. We want to know whether the defective rates are different between the two manufacturing processes. We desire a power of at least 80% and a 10% significance level. How many products do we need in each group to run this experiment within these parameters?

In the previous question, other things being the same, what is the sample size if we want to know whether the defective rate from the first process is smaller than that from the second manufacturing process?

We want to construct a 95% confidence interval for the true proportion of all adult males who have spent time in prison, with a margin of error of 0.02. From previous studies, we believe the proportion to be somewhere around 0.07. The required sample size is, therefore: Select one: a. 620 b. 626 c. 632 d. 670

These two groups are two samples representing the population of workers in the economy. We want to know if the workers who take the training (treatment sample) have higher earnings than the group that do not take the training (control sample). If we find that the trained workers have higher earnings it would indicate that the training is effective.[1]In terms of statistics, we will do a hypothesis test on the difference between the mean earnings in the treatment population and...
