Ans) Intermediate filaments (IFs) are nonpolar i.e they don't have positive and negative ends unlike microtubules and microfilaments and thus Intermediate filaments cannot undergo treadmilling.Thus,they are not involved in locomotory processes like vesicle transport etc.In intermediate filaments,addition and deletion occurs at the centre by phosphorylation and dephosphorylation respectively and thus no ends are involved.
