E. extracellular

Cytoskeleton

Cytoskeleton is a network of protein fibers the dominate the cell and function in cell motility and structure. So it gives the cell it's structure, shape and also helps the cells to resist different types of forces. It helps in the cells to move things inside the cell and organise the various organelles inside.

three types are microfilaments, intermediate filaments and microtubule.

fiber type protein function
microfilaments (6-7nm) Actin muscle contraction, cytoplasmic streaming, phagocytosis, tensile strength.
intermediate filaments (10nm) several proteins tensile strength and stability of the cell structure.
microtubules (23nm) tubulin ( alpha and beta) formation of mitotic spindle, compresive strength, intercelluar movement, cilia and flagella.

cytoskeleton is an eukaryotic cell characteristic. Although flagella of prokaryotic cells are made of protein flagellin, so in prokaryotic cells flagella is not made up of microtubule or tubulin protein.

Intermediat filaments compose the nuclear lamina, also found in the cytoplasm as well as outside the cell.
