- Difference :

Eukaryotes -

1. Have nucleus

2. Usually multicellular

3.microtubules are present.

4. Mitochondria is present.

5. More that one chromosome is present.

6. True membrane bound nucleus is present.

Prokaryotes-

1. No nucleus

2. Usually unicellular. Some cyanobacteria are multicellular

3. Microtubules are absent or rare

4. Mitochondria is absent.

5. One chromosome, but not true chromosome.

6. True membrane bound nucleus is absent.

- Relevance of cyanobacteria, archaebacteria and virus :

1. cyanobacteria provide suitable conditions for other bacteria to grow

2. Viruses contain the characteristics of both living and non-living organisms and so they are utilized in the field of Biotechnology research.

3. Archaebacteria are the best source of protein and enzymes , suitable to work in extreme conditions like Taq Polymerase.

4. Blue green algae functions as food to several aquatic animals.

5.Bacteriophage can be used in water preservation as it can destroy the bacteria and keep water fresh.

6. Methanogens are used in treatment of sewage water.

- Reproduction of bacteria :

Bacteria reproduce by binary fission . Here, or mother cell divides to exactly same sized 2 daughter cells.

Another unusual form of reproduction is Budding.

- size of bacteria : bacterial cells range from 0.2-10 micrometres.

- form of bacteria : bacteria has 3 basic shape / forms :

1. Rod shaped

2.spherial shaped.

3 . Spiral shaped .

- classification of bacteria :

According to basic shape, bacteria are classified into 5 groups:

1 spherical shaped.

2 Rod shaped.

3. Comma shaped.

4 spiral shaped.

5. Corkscrew shaped.
