1.) Sodium oxalate, Na2C2O4, in solution is oxidized to CO2(g) by MnO−4 which is reduced to Mn2+. A 50.0 −mL volume of a solution of MnO−4 is required to titrate a 0.342 −g sample of sodium oxalate. This solution of MnO−4 is then used to analyze uranium-containing samples. A 4.60 −g sample of a uranium-containing material requires 32.5 mL of the solution for titration. The oxidation of the uranium can be represented by the change UO2+→UO2+2. Calculate the percentage of...
Why does 0.01M KMnO4 not change color at first when it is added to 0.025M of Na2C2O4 (sodium oxalate)? I did a titration of KMnO4 and Na2C2O4 a week ago and initially when I added the KMnO4, it turned the sodium oxalate a deep purple. It later turned colorless after about 15 seconds. Why is that? Is there a reasonable explanation?
0.3562g of Na2C2O4 was dissolved in 250mL H2O. 10mL of this solution required 48.63mL of KMnO4. What is the molarity of the KMnO4 ?
7) (10 pts) In the titration of sodium oxalate with potassium permanganate, very pure sodjum oxalate (Na2C2O4, MM133.9985 g/mol) is used to find an accurate Molarity of a potassium permanganate (KMnO) solution. If 98.52 mg of sodium oxalate is dissolved in exactly 25.00 mL of solution at 25.0°C, 21.50 mL of KMnO solution is needed to achieve equivalence. What is the Molarity of the KMnO,? Sodium and potassium ions are spectators in this reaction. Constant normal Ts and Ps are...
of Oxalate Before beginning this experiment in the laboratory, you should be able to answer the following questions 1. If0.4586 g of sodium oxalate, Na C204, requires 33.67 mL of a KMno4 solution to reach the end point, what is the molarity of the KMnO4 solution? Titration of an oxalate sample gave the following percentages: 15.53%, 15.55%, and 15.56%. Calculate the average and the standard deviation. 2. 3. Why does the solution decolorize upon standing after the equivalence point has...
What is the hydroxide-ion concentration of a 0.250 M sodium oxalate (Na2C2O4) solution?For oxalic acid (H2C2O4), Ka1 = 5.6×10–2 and Ka2 = 5.1×10–5.
A. How many mL of a 0.118 M solution of KMnO4 are needed to titrate 20.0 mL of 0.214 M solution of sodium oxalate, Na2C2O4? The net ionic equation is 2MnO4-(aq) + 5C2O42-(aq) +16H+(aq) → 2Mn2+(aq) + 10CO2(g) + 8H2O(l) B. In which of the following compounds can an element highlighted in red act as an oxidizing agent? CaH2, CH4, NH3, ClO2, H2O
