Chemical formula of magnesium hydroxide is Mg(OH)2. Magnesium hydroxideis a base which can be neutralized by treating with acid. It reacts with HCl in following way:

Mg(OH)2                                                                 Mg2+ + 2 OH-

(HCl                                          H+ + Cl- ) X 2

(H+ + OH-                                          H2O) X 2

Mg(OH)2 + 2 HCl                                        MgCl2 + 2H2O

So coefficient of HCl in molecular equation will be 2.
