A local political leader has demanded a payment to help settle a labor dispute that he has engineered; he implies that if you refuse, the outcome could be unpredictable and bad for business. Eventually, he mellows and agrees to accept a check payable to a school for poor children that he runs. Should you pay?

Ans. No , Bribe in any form given to any person is not acceptable in any format of a business. A company who compromises it's ethics develops a bad reputation in long run that eventually causes a big loss to the corporation. And those who don't , develop a reputation that serves as a shield against bribery. Looking for a plausible deniability is the best short term course of action. Bribery is an option available to the leaders of the corporation which can always be denied , Thus it depends on the leaders , it is never a compulsion and hence can always be neglected.
