You hypothesize that students in fraternities/sororities on your campus are more extroverted (on an introversion/extroversion scale) than other students. To answer your research question, you need to obtain a sample of “Greek” students and a sample of “independent” students. For each of these two populations of students, how would you obtain simple random samples using the four steps described in this chapter? (The four steps 1. Defining the population, 2. Constructing a list, 3. Drawing the sampling, 4. Contacting members of the sample) Chapter 7. Sampling Techniques

Answer #1

Introduction- Sampling is a primary task for any research, it is a process used in statistical analysis in which pre-determined observations are taken from a bigger population. The process and methodology used in sampling strictly depend on the type of research and methods of interpretation.

Steps of the Sampling-

1- Defining Population: Defining the population of interest is the first step in the sampling process, the target population is defined in the terms of the element, units, extent and time frames. The definition of the sample should be according to the research design and other related elements.

2- Constructing a list: The construction of list depends on the size of the samples and elements identified during sampling, a list should be easy to interpret on scales, a true representation of data and flexible for after changes.

3- Drawing the Sampling: One the definition of the population is clear, the researcher find out the common and odd elements from which the sample may be drawn. Drawing the sampling uses multiple signs, notions, and symbols to show data in a specific manner.

4- Contacting Members of the Sample: This step used to identify and recognize the data used as the sample, an identified data increase the value of research so researchers prepare a list of volunteers who provided samples. Contacting members list helps us to define the validity and reliability of the samples as well as research.

Let's say you want to poll a random sample of 150 students on campus to see if they prefer to take online classes. Of course, if you took an actual poll you would only get one number (your sample proportion, p-hat). Imagine all the possible samples of 150 students that you could draw and the distribution of all the possible sample proportions you would get from them. If I told you that we know that 35% of all students actually...

Please do all parts. 2. You have gathered data from 25 students in TURB 225 to see how long it takes them to commute to the UWT campus. In your sample size of 25, you find the mean travel time to campus is 23 minutes, and the variance is 152. a. What is the sample standard deviation? (1 pt) b. What is the estimate of the standard error? (2 pt) c. In another sample of 25 students, the mean travel...

To estimate the mean height μμ of male students on your campus, you will measure an SRS of students. You know from government data that heights of young men are approximately Normal with standard deviation about 2.8 inches. You want your sample mean x⎯⎯⎯x¯ to estimate μμ with an error of no more than one-half inch in either direction. (a) What standard deviation must x⎯⎯⎯x¯ have so that 95% of all samples give an x⎯⎯⎯x¯ within one-half inch of μμ?...

Please read the article and answer about questions. You and the Law Business and law are inseparable. For B-Money, the two predictably merged when he was negotiat- ing a deal for his tracks. At other times, the merger is unpredictable, like when your business faces an unexpected auto accident, product recall, or government regulation change. In either type of situation, when business owners know the law, they can better protect themselves and sometimes even avoid the problems completely. This chapter...
