False.
Prions are infectious agents in form of proteins, which divides on their own inside the host body. They are misfolded in nature and results in neurodegenrative disorders in humans or animals like alzhimers, parkinsons, scrapie (in sheeps). Because of misfolded structure they are present in the form of protein aggregrates called amyloids which on accumulation in tissue cause abnormalities and ultimately, cell death.
The normal form of prion protein is present in animals and called as PrPC, while the misfolded/infectious form is called PrPSc where C refers to 'cellular' PrP and Sc refers to 'scrapie' from the prion disease in sheep. PrPC is structurally well-defined and normal but PrPSc is polydisperse and aggregrated.
Due to the change in structure of protein, they usually pass through proteases, protein degrading enzymes and therefore neither requires them for replication or survival.

[5] TRUE or FALSE: The core time series models are the regression or static model, the autoregressive model, the distributed lag model, and the autoregressive distributed lag model.

2. After each sentence below, note whether the sentence is true or false. If false, cross out one incorrect word in the sentence and write the correct one above it. a. DNA polymerase requires a short primer made of DNA with a 3' OH group to begin chromosome replication. b. Semi-conservative DNA replication means that a newly synthesized daughter chromosome will be fully- methylated c. The lagging strand of newly synthesized DNA will have many more primers compared to the...
True or false The mere presence of yeast is not proof of yeast vaginitis as the vaginal Flora of up 25% of healthy women can contain candida spp.
Semi-conservative DNA replication can be used by bacterial chromosome and plasmid both. a) True b) False
14. HIV-1 Protease is an enzyme made by HIV that hydrolyzes the long viral polyprotein into their functional protein components. HIV patients are treated with inhibitors of HIV Protease, which in turn inhibit HIV replication. Two competitive inhibitors of HIV-1 Protease are saquinavir (K = 0.40 nM) and ritonavir (K1 = 0.015 nM). (K, are dissociation constants for the reaction IE + I + E, where I is the inhibitor and E is HIV Protease.) a) Which would have a...
