Michael is a 65-year-old sedentary smoker who is 225 lbs and is 6 ft 3 in tall. Michael has not exercised in years and was told by his physician to start an exercise program. His resting blood pressure was measured at 150/90 mmHg. A blood lipid profile reported a total cholesterol of 189 mg/dl, HDL of 41 mg/dl and LDL of 120 mg/dl. His fasting blood glucose was reported at 88 mg/dl. His father passed away from lung cancer and his mother is living with no known CVD.

Ans. There are 2 risk factors associated with Michael primarily the sedentary lifestyle which can pose a lot of problems. Secondly the elevated blood pressure levels which is in the stage 2 of hypertension. Lipid profile is within the normal limit with HDL levels on the borderline mark. The blood glucose level is within the normal limit.
