Say totally we have 1000 students.

Morning students= 40%:

Morning students =  40 X 1000

=400

Afternoon students=29%:

Afternoon students = 29 10010 0 X 1000

=290

Then, remaining

Evening students=31%:

Evening students = 31 100 0 X 1000

=310

38% of morning:

x 152

=57.76 in campus.

So,

=400-57.76

=342.24 not in campus.

23% of afternoon:

X 290

=66.7 in campus.

17% of evening:

17 X 310 100

=52.7 in campus.

So,

=310-52.7

=257.3 not in campus.

The probability a non-afternoon student does not live on campus:

P(non-afternoon not in campus) = (non-afternoon not in campus) / (total non-afternoon)

(342.244 257.3) 400 + 310

=84.4%
