Hello there, I did an extraction of caffeine organic lab experiment. Why is ethyl acetate used for extracting caffeine and not other solvents? I know that ethyl acetate, caffeine, and water are polar but why are two layers formed after mixing caffeine in water and ethyl acetate? I'm a little confused. I thought that polar mixes with polar and nonpolar mixes with nonpolar. Is caffeine not polar? Is ethyl acetate soluble in water? Please explain. Thank you very much! :)
Is sodium acetate a stronger or weaker base than sodium hydroxide (NaOH). Explain.
A reaction between acetic acid and sodium hydroxide forms water and sodium acetate. Is this reaction endothermic or exothermic?

a) How many moles of Ni(OH)2 are soluble in 1L of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) when the pH is 12.34? pKsp of Ni(OH)2 = 15.8 b) How many moles of Cu(OH)2 are soluble in 1L of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) when the pH is 8.23? pKsp of Cu(OH)2 = 18.8 c) How many moles of BaF2 are soluble in 250ml of sodium fluoride (NaF)? Concentration of NaF = 0.12 mol/ pKsp of BaF2 = 5.8
organic chemistry. why is CH3ONa not used in the claisen
condensation of ethyl acetate
12. Why is CH3ONa not used in the Claisen condensation of ethyl acetate? a. CH30 is a weaker base than the CH3CH20-which is used. b. CH3O- Nat is more difficult to prepare than CH3CH2O Nat. c. CH3O- would abstract a proton from the ethyl group of the ester. d. Use of CH,O- Na would result in transesterification e. CH,O- Na can be used as well as...
When ethyl acetate is treated with sodium ethoxide followed by mild aqueous acid a Claisen condensation product results. Write a mechanism using the usual conventions and provide an unambiguous structural formula for the final product.
Can you explain why the three molecules (Isopropanol C3H8O, Ethyl Acetate C4H8O2, and Propyl Acetate C5H10O2 are polar or non molar at a chemical level?
