A. Endocytosis:

It is the process of actively transporting molecules into the cell by engulfing it with its membrane.

All cells uses endocytosis to transport molecules which cannot pass through the membrane passively.

Examples: pinocytosis, phagocytosis and receptor-mediated endocytosis.

Pinocytosis and phagocytosis are two major types.

Pinocytosis is also known as cell drinking, the absorption of tiny water particles along with membrane receptors which helps to recognize them.

Phagocytosis helps in taking in of large food particles.

Receptor-mediated endocytosis uses special receptor proteins which helps to carry large particles along the cell membrane.
