The list of 20 retailing stores in the area:-

1. Lifestyle - clothing store - It is a type of "departmental store" which sell only selected line of product that is ''clothing''.

2. Westside - It is also a type of departmental store which deals in clothing materials.

3. John's General store - It is a small store run by a family which basically deals in day to day household items. These type of stores are known as mom-and-pop stores.

4. Sports Authority - This shop specializes in sports accessories. It sell goods related to sports only. This type of store is known as category killers.

5. Pacific Mall - As the name suggests, it is a mall. One can find all types of store under one roof in a mall. It is one of the most visited retail stores.

6. Brand Factory - It is a discount store. It offers all types of clothing and other accessories at a discounted price.

7. Big Bazar - It is a form of supermarket. In a supermarket, all kind of household items like groceries can be found at one place.

8. Street Vendors - This form of retail is done at a small scale. The vendors sell a particular kind of good on the street. There is generally no permanent store.

9. Reliance Fresh - It is a hypermarket. In a hypermarket, all kind of groceries and general goods can be found under the same roof.

10. Smoke - It is a kiosk. Kiosks are small box-like shops. They sell inexpensive and very cheap items like cigarettes.

11. 24*7 - It is a new type of retail outlet which sell all kinds of goods. The special feature of this store is that it is open 24 hours a day and never closes. It is a type of Hypermarket.

12. Kim's store - It is a departmental store.

13. Modern confectioners - As the name suggests, this store deals in all kinds of confectionary goods like cakes and pastries.

14. Morning store - It is a type of mom-and-pop store.

15 - Archies - It is a store which specializes in gift items. The store only sells goods related to gifts. Astore like is this is difficult to put in any specific category of retail format.

16. Bloom, the Florists - This retail outlet deals in flowers. It can be put under the category of mom-and-pop store, but they are selling a good of a specializes category, that is flowers.

17. Hairgrapher- It is a store owned by a single person who is a barber.

18. Bake factory - It is a confectionary store.

19. Pizza cantt - It is a restaurant.

20. Domino's - It is a fast food outlet.

The stores like "24*7" can be termed as a hybrid as they have the qualities of various formats like that of a hypermarket and a supermarket. They do not sell a particular line of product and their scale of business is also different according to the area. Therefore, it is difficult to categories it under one single format.

The most dominant format is the hypermarkets, as they serve a wide variety of customer needs. A customer can get all the goods under one roof which makes it more convenient.

The retail stores which are similar in format are generally nearby to each other. It is because they can tap the maximum footfall from the customers who come to buy the same goods and they check each store to get the best products at a lower price.
