Among numerous social changes urbanization stands as one of the most important changes. Throughout whole world there is rapid growth of urbanization. It has great effect in the environmental, social, cultural and economic life of the people.
Effect of urbanization in the physical environment: Urbanization means destruction of nature and the development of artificial infrastructure. Roads, buildings, offices, park, resorts are built there. New industry is built. There is no land for cultivation in the urban areas. Urbanization is the spread of commercial places, market, trade and business.
The spread of urbanization gives birth of environment pollution. Urban people are victim of many dangerous diseases due to pollution. Besides, corruption, effect of global warming, insecurity, accident appear greatly in the urban area.
Effect of urbanization in population: In the urban areas the density of population is greater than rural areas. As there are many facilities and sources of multiple works, people live there.
At the same time the public health in urban areas is very poor. Slum areas appear in urban areas. People are deprived of pure water and fresh breath.
Innovation: For the development of urban areas many innovative ways are taken. There are developed drainage system, electric supply and water supply are provided with advanced technology. At the same time many scientific methods are taken to preserve nature.
Diffusion: In the urban areas people are more aware of various problems and they are more educated. The rate of education in the urban areas is more than the rural areas. People are culturally developed. They are socially and politically aware of the various problems. Due to the spread of urbanization people are more aware of of their rights. Therefore the violation of rights faces protests from them.
Mass media: The spread of mass media in the ordinary people is a result of the growth of urbanization. It makes people aware of their rights. Mass media are the strong pillars of democracy. Newspaper, electronic media, Facebook, Twitter etc used greatly in the urban areas. They have become an integral part of the daily life of the urban people.
