How is language influenced by nature and by nurture? How do the two work together?
Language and language development is influenced by nature and nurture in many ways. Nature of the genetic factors play an important role in contributing to the intellectual ability of the individual and how it can be utilized for Language Development. This also includes the presence of genetic disorders or physical abnormalities such as a cleft lip. Nurture or the environmental factors can influence language development in various ways including the type of family ( whether they are bilingual or speak different languages) , the extent of communication in their environment etc. Both these factors hence play an important role in language development.
