Delegation seems to be a very powerful tool. What are a few key barriers to delegation that many managers face and, for each, what can be done to overcome or work around them?

Following are the key barrier to delegation that many manager face-------------

1. wanting to do things personally.

2. Insecurity.

3. lack of confidence in subordinates.

4. personal factors.

5. unwillingness to set standards of control and retention of power.

Following steps should be adopted to overcome these---------

1. Freedom to subordinate----when manager accept the need for delegation, he must also give freedom to make decision with respect to delegated task to the subordinate.

2. open communication--------through delegetee are given the authority to solve problem related to the assigned tasks, yet , they should be allowed to freely discuss the problem with their deligator.

3. monitor critical deviations-------the superior should overlook minor deviation and monitor the major deviation in the task assigned.

4. choose the right person for the right job---------they should select the person who is capable to perform the task sucessfully. the person selected should be able to perfrom the task assigned to them.

5. develop confidence in subordinate is one of the effective measure to minimise the barrer of the delegation.
