An asteroid with a mass of 8.0×1011 is observed to have a relativistic momentum of magnitude 7.76×1020 . What is the speed of the asteroid relative to the observer? Every time I've done it, I get 1 but it says the answer is wrong.

With respect to an observer in a given frame of reference, how fast would the spaceship have to move in order for your [moving] mass to be double your resting mass? From your perspective, what will be your mass on board the spaceship? In the last two weeks we have investigated time, length, and mass at very high velocities. Identify the unifying physical principle...

Learning Goal: To learn the definition andapplications of angular momentum including its relationship totorque. By now, you should be familiar with the concept ofmomentum, defined as the product of an object's mass andits velocity: . You may have noticed that nearly every translationalconcept or equation seems to have an analogous rotationalone. So, what might be the rotational analogue of momentum? Just as the rotational analogue of force , called thetorque , isdefined by the formula , the rotational analogue of...

Greg is cruising down the street in his new Ferrari SRS (Special Relativistic Series) 2000, when he absent-mindedly drives straight through a red light. Unfortunately for him, officer Buckingham is sitting at the intersection and, upon witnessing the infraction, pulls him over. When asked why he decided to run the red light, Greg — a knowledgeable astrophysi- cist and renowned smooth-talker — responds, “Officer, I do apologize for acting in such blatant disregard of the law. However, you must understand...
