1)The MBA HBS Proposal includes promises like "serve the greater good", "act with the utmost integrity" and guards against "decisions and behavior that advance my own ambitions, but harm the enterprise and the societies it serves." Are these teleological or deontological norms being proposed?
2)Do you agree or disagree with such a proposal?
3)Can you think of a different proposal taking into account today's situation?
4)What is the role of an ethics course in the MBA program so as to attain an ETHOS in the profession?
1. Yes in my opinion these teleological or deontological norms are being proposed because the MBA HBS proposal states the ethical standards and value systems that need to be inculcated in the MBA aspirants or future business leaders so that they carry out business operations with utmost dignity and ethical standards and do not deviate on business principles and values.
2. I agree with such a proposal because I feel that any employee needs to act with utmost integrity and must always follow organization's ethical standards while being involved in business transactions and dealing with other stakeholders. If ethics and values are compromised, then it affects the individuals and organizations alike and entire value system falls apart.
3. Another proposal taking into account today's situation is to act smart by getting the work done through different means but not compromising on these standards either. People have to set a middle path and try and achieve organizational efficiency by being prudent and smart in their work and also not compromising on ethical standards as well.
4. Role of ab ethics course in the MBA program is to make the students aware of the loopholes and the way to deal with them through case studies and making them ethically and morally strong so that they are able to deal with such situations when they step in the corporate world.
