As per the results of mental scanning experiments, mental images of the people are both images like pictures and images that are exactly not like pictures.

Researchers suggest that some people are good at mental imagery, while others are not so good. As per the psychologist at Harvard University, Stephen Kosslyn , about three percent of people are very good at mental imagery, while three percent, do not get mental imagery at all. Psychologists have identified the skills which cause this and say that these can be enhanced with mental endeavours.

Using computerized measuring technique, mental images have been measured and it was found that they are exactly similar to the actual visual processing.

In an study carried out by the Harvard University, it was found that 80% of the people has colourful mental images, 40% had moving images, 10% had images not possible in real life. Their images involved senses like smell, sound, touch or taste.
