n = 32, μ = 25.3, s = 5.4, x-bar = 28.6    

Ho: μ = 25.3    

Ha: μ ≠ 25.3    

α = 0.01    

Degrees of freedom = 32 - 1 = 31

SE = s/√n = 5.4/√32 = 0.9546   

t = (x-bar - μ)/SE = (28.6 - 25.3)/0.9546 = 3.457  

p- value = 0.0016    

Since 0.0016 < 0.01, we reject Ho

There is enough statistical evidence that the age of first marriage is now different from 25.3 years
