Phagocytosis of foreign pathogen is done by phagocytes which internalize the pathogen into a phagosome where different enzymes such as lysozyme kills the foreign pathogen, whereas non phagocytic killing is done by neutrophils which release large amounts of reactive oxygen species that causes oxidative damage to the pathogens.
