An experiment was designed to estimate the mean difference in weight gain for pigs fed ration A as compared with those fed ration B. Eight pairs of pigs were used. The pigs within each pair were litter-mates. The rations were assigned at random to the two animals within each pair. The gains (in pounds) after 45 days are shown in the following table. Assuming weight gain is normal, find the 95% confidence interval estimate for the mean of the differences μd, where d = ration A - ration B. (Give your answers correct to two decimal places.)

Litter 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Ration A 48 37 41 40 42 37 62 57
Ration B 43 34 34 34 35 29 52 55
Lower Limit
Upper Limit

This experiment was designed originally to sample various meat and carcass quality aspects of Ontario pigs from 1990 to 1993. It wasn’t designed to detect QTL associated with meat quality characteristics of pork, but we had enough meat samples remaining from this experiment to have DNA that we could add this component. The population was an outbred population. Moisture retained by meat has a connection with the flavour and juiciness of the cooked product. The results below are from an...

explaim the mechanisms amd toxological effects if type 1 diabetes in this article Exposure to arsenic in drinking water is associated with increased prevalence of diabetes. We previously reported an association of diabetes and urinary concentration of dimethylarsinite (DMAS"), a toxic product of arsenic methylation by arsenic (+ 3 oxidation state) methyltransferase (AS3MT). Here we examine associations between AS3MT polymorphism, arsenic metabolism and diabetes. Fasting blood glucose, oral glucose tolerance and self-reported diagnoses were used to identify diabetic individuals. Inorganic...
