Draw the best Lewis structure for SO2 by filling in the bonds, lone pairs, and formal charges. (Assign bonds, lone pairs, radical electrons, and atomic charges where appropriate.)
INCORRECT ANSWER:
My answer was marked incorrect for the reason "Recall that in an octet-rule compliant Lewis structure, there can only be 8 electron groups surrounding the central atom". Down to last submission and don't understand why it's incorrect

1. For each compound, draw the Lewis dot structure, the number of lone pairs, and the number of electronic groups for the central atom. Each Lewis dot structure follows the octet rule: hydrogen has one bond, all other atoms are surrounded by a total of eight electrons. Each covalent bond counts as we clectrons. Each nonbonded pair of electrons (lone pairs) count as two electrons. The number of nonbonded electrons is how many electrons from the central atom are not...
1. Draw a Lewis structure for XeAt4. Which statement(s) best describe(s) the Lewis structure of XeAt4? Group of answer choices All atoms in the structure obey the octet rule. The structure is a free radical. The structure has an incomplete octet. The structure has an expanded octet. The structure has a free radical and an incomplete octet. This is a Lewis structure example on my Chemestry book. But I
am very confused about the number of valence electrons in Iodine on
this specific structure: in general we try to achieve the octet
rule, but on this structure Iodine have 4 lone pairs and 4 single
bond. Since each single bond equals to 2 electrons, doesn't Iodine
have way too many electrons?
thank you

Draw a Lewis structure for SO2 in which all atoms obey the octet rule. Show formal charges. Do not consider ringed structures. Draw a Lewis structure for SO2 in which all atoms have a formal charge of zero. Explicitly showing the zero charges is optional. Do not consider ringed structures.
