=> If the element loses electrons then it is oxidised and if the element gains electrons then it is reduced.

=> The element which is used for reduction of other element is called reducing agent and which is used of oxidation of other element is called oxidising agent.

In the above reaction Cr is oxidised and act as a reducing agent to reduce the Iodine.

And Iodine is reduced? and it is act as oxidising agent to oxidised Cr.
