stimulus is received by the sensory receptors of the foot. it is then carried to the the primary somatosensory cortex of the brain where the sensation is perceived (it asses the type of stimulus, strength of stimulus and location of the body part from which the stimulus is coming). it then signals the primary motor cortex which initiate muscle action for appropriate response.
