Choose some specific types of changes you would like to see happen in groups or organizations with which you are familiar. Imagine that you were trying to bring about these changes. What sources of resistance should you anticipate? How would you manage the resistance?

Answer: I work as a part time employee at a restaurant and I would like to see two types of changes to take place. Firstly I would like to see the process and procedures to change inside the organization. The second change that I will like to see is that our team develops a cohesive attitude and work together as a team rather than as a group. I feel that the resistance will come from the team members and there will be three sources of resistance to change namely inertia, fear due to uncertainty and lack of a change management strategy. If I had to handle this change then I will first create a sense of urgency in the team about the change. I will inform them about the need and logic for change and will motivate them to move along with the change. I will develop new procedures and train the team members in them. I will also provide them training for developing team work. Proper communication channels will be used and created to inform the people about the process of change. Gradually as a team I will implement the new processes and procedure and encourage the team to work together by acting as an example. I will from time to time reinforce the new values and processes.
