According to the Leandro Castello, define various threats that World biggest river is facing. These environmental concern and their consequences are following :

I. Dam building in the basin of Amazon river is the biggest environmental concern. There are total 154 hydroelectric dams that are build in this river basin and some other dams are in pipeline that going to build in Amazon river . These large number of dams building together with deforestation cause a change in annual rainfall that change the hydrology around Amazon river.

II. This river ecosystem is also facing the problem of over-fishing. This problem affected the natural food web along with the decrease in the number figh that are the source of protein for human residing in the river basin.

III. Deforestation is third main environmental concern that is found in the Amazon river basin. Approximately, 56 percent of trees found in the Amazon river basin get deforested. This lead to the soil erosion, dry and wet season water variability, affecting plant and wildlife.  

IV. Pollution from agricultural and industrial waste also increases the pollution in Amazon river. This increase pollution, severaly affect the life of many plants and animals living in the amazon river.

Some social justice and ecosystem justice are using approaches like traditional terrestrial focus conservation approaches are used to save the amazon river ecosystem. Some method like river catchment based conservation are used to save the water in Amazon river from various issues. The solutions being implemented that to deacrese the rate of deforestation and not to dump industrial and agricultural waste in the Amazon river.
