Excavation and removal of earth has to be done in a road project. One excavator with a 0.80 cy bucket and a bucket fill factor of 0.9, is used to cut the soil and load the trucks. A total of 5 trucks are being used for transportation of the soil. Each truck can transport 10 cy. The dump site is 30 miles away and the trucks travel at 40 mph, and have to travel 60 miles. The contractor is planning to complete 4 trips by each truck during the day.
The following time intervals are observed for the excavator operation:
a. Loading the bucket 0.2 min
b. Move the excavator arm-0.5 min
c. Dump the lad in the truck-0.1 min
