Answer #1

Hey, a very good topic to be discussed. For simplicity purposes, I had divided the explanation into parts. let's start:

PART ONE: The ACM Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct:

The ACM Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct is used to defining the rationality of the profession.

It is designed to motivate and inspire the ethical ethics of all computer professionals which includes practitioners, developers or anyone who uses computer technology as a part of their life. It also provides remedies when any violation of such a code of ethics occurs and necessary actions are taken.

General principles of this code of ethics are as follows:

1. Contribution towards the well being of humanity:

One of the core principles is that the technologies used in the computer system should aim to provide the optimal well being of humans and not to cause any loss or damage to humanity.

2. Say no to causing harm:

Another important principle is that the technologies evolved from the computer fundamentals should not cause any harm to the individual, users or anyone associated with it.

The harms are categorized into unintended and intended where unintended harms should be closely analyzed and should be avoided in the future anyway.

3. Honesty and Trust:

This is one of the most basic principles of a good moral life. One should be honest and trustworthy in any department he is working in. A computer professional should be transparent and shouldn't use any provision to provide biased support.

Computer professionals should be honest in their qualifications, certifications and their nature of work.

4. Respect new ideas:

One of the most important ethics is respecting new ideas provided or proposed by others., A computer professional should respect new ideas, innovations that are intended for the overall improvement of the system.

PART TWO: The Software Engineering Code of Ethics and Professional Practice:

This practice is intended for teaching and practicing software engineering documents in an ethical manner.

It focuses on the software engineering model to improve its overall productivity for the well being of the entire ecosystem of the software industry.

This code instructs the practitioners to follow a certain set of standards for delivering the technical contents and instruct people about the responsibilities of the profession. Some of the principles are as follows:

1. Responsibility:

One should be fully responsible for their work and they shouldn't show any irresponsibility to the tasks provided to them.

2. Keep the interest alive:

One should moderate the interests of software engineers and other users by doing certain operations like a public good.

3. Approve/Disapprove:

One should approve a software design only when the risks associated with it are examined and it shouldn't cause any terror in the world. This terror could be of any form like associated with data integrity or privacy, etc.

4. Consider Special Ability:

Before making any design, one must keep in mind that how this software component can be used who are specially-abled and what could be the steps that could be taken to facilitate them with this service.

5. Product Quality:

Software professionals must ensure that the product meets the required quality and it must be able to fulfill the basic or necessary requirements for which it is designed.

They must treat all forms of maintained steps to keep the product up to the mark.

PART THREE: The Australian Computer Society Code of Professional Conduct:

This code of ethics is a part of the ACS constitution. An ACS member should hold the honor, dignity, and effectiveness of being a professional. Some of its core values are as follows:

1. The primacy of Public interest:

Public interests should be placed on top rather than personal interests, business interests or sectional interests.

2. The Enhancement of Quality of Life:

You will make great efforts to improve the quality of life who are using your products.

3. Honesty:

There should be honesty in the representation of your skill, knowledge, services, and products.

4. Competence:

Members will work competently and carefully for providing the best services to your stakeholders

5. Professional Development:

Members will enhance your technical skills and improve yourself by adopting new technologies and gaining new knowledge.

6. Professionalism:

Members should follow the professionalism and respect of each of the ACS members.

PART FOUR: SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES:

Similarities:

All of these codes of ethics aim towards the optimal development of the Softwares and its fair use to make the world a better place.

All of these codes of ethics make sure that honesty is one of the core principles to follow any profession. There should be transparency in the educational qualifications, skill set, etc.

All of these codes of ethics make sure that professionals should be competent in their quality of work.

All these codes of ethics ensure that quality product gets delivered to their respective stakeholders and customers.

Differences:

The degree of flexibility offered to a professional is more in ACS rather than compared to The ACM Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and The Software Engineering Code of Ethics and Professional Practice.

The ACM code of ethics and the Software Engineer Code of ethics need not everything documented in a specified manner as required in the case of The Australian Computer Society Code of Professional Conduct.

PART FIVE: CONCLUSION:

On the basis of all the study of the different codes of ethics, It's my personal view that ACM is one of the finest codes of ethics that aims to the overall improvement of the computer professionals. It is widely accepted by a lot of computer experts and it has currently more than 1 Lakh members from 190 countries over the globe. The ACM code of ethics was so powerful that it was updated after 26 years to meet new demand in the computing system. Last time it was updated in 2018 and before that, it was updated in 1992. It was so robustly written and the scalability was also very high that it was applicable to the huge range of sections got significant development results.

It aims to the optimal development of the overall computer scientist, the computer system, the computing environment, humanity and security in an effective manner.

It is the world's largest computing association. It makes sure that proper input is received from all the ends like from the stakeholder's point, developers, other computer science practitioners, etc. It maintains the law of equality and doesn't discriminate on any basis.
