buffer range value always = pKa + 1

so buffer range for given buffer = 6.4 + 1 , and 6.4 -1

= 7.4 , and 5.4

effective buffer range = 5.4 to 7.4

our blood pH value 7.4 . here biological buffer pH range is also fall into same region.

so this keeps the blood pH constant . it means if any excess acid or base enter into our body this buffer will neutralise excess acid or base and always maintain blood pH constant
