Answer #1

Thermocouple is a device that is used to measure the temperature of the object. Thermocouple is made by connecting two wires of different material with each other. One junction acts as hot junction and other is cold junction.

To calibrate the thermometer, a hot junction is initially dipped into the vessel containing ice. An another temperature measuring device is present over there for example a thermometer. The respective temperature of thermometer is noted along with potential difference measured across two junctions of thermocouple. Then the readings of temperature are recorded at each increment of 5 degree celcius or 1 degree celcius depending upon the accuracy required. The subsequent potential difference is also noted down. Then the graph is plotted in between measured voltage and the temperature to get calibration curve
